As a child, I used to dream about the future, imagining a world straight out of the Jetsons or Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century. I envisioned sleek silver outfits, flying cars, and robots in every home. However, skincare was definitely not on my radar back then.
Unlike Zenon and Judy Jetson, who never seemed to worry about wrinkles or sun damage, I find myself thinking more about these things now that I am in my late 30s. While we may not be living on a space station or have talking pets, the future is still pretty amazing—and it’s about to reveal just how “old” our skin really is.
L’Oréal recently introduced the Cell BioPrint device at the 2025 CES tech show in Las Vegas, taking beauty technology to a whole new level. This innovative device provides personalized insights based on specific protein levels in your skin, giving you a detailed look at your skin’s history, current condition, and even its future. And the best part? It only takes five minutes.
Developed in collaboration with the Korean biotech company NanoEnTek, this device encourages a proactive approach to skincare. Instead of waiting to treat issues like sunspots or dryness after they appear, you can use targeted ingredients like vitamin C or ceramides to prevent them altogether. The data provided by the device includes your skin’s “age,” how quickly it is aging, the best active ingredients for your skin, and which ones to avoid. It can even predict potential issues such as dark spots, allowing you to address them before they become a problem.
The Cell BioPrint device is easy to use, with a tabletop setup featuring a main machine that resembles a small printer. After placing a “facial tape strip” on your cheek and immersing it in a buffer solution, the sample is processed and loaded into the machine. As it works its magic, the device captures photos of your face and prompts you to answer a few questions about your skin health and concerns.
In a world where technology continues to advance, it’s exciting to see how innovations like the Cell BioPrint device are revolutionizing the way we approach skincare. Who would have thought that the future I once dreamed of as a child would involve such cutting-edge tools for achieving healthy, radiant skin?
