Norwich City goalkeeper Angus Gunn has expressed his concerns about the lack of communication from the club regarding a new contract offer. Gunn, whose current deal with the Canaries expires at the end of this season, revealed that renewal talks have not yet taken place.
Speaking to BBC Radio Norfolk, Gunn admitted, “I’ve not heard anything from the club, which is a worry. I do get asked that question a lot but honestly I can’t answer it because there’s been no communication.”
The Scotland international, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury and unable to join the national team, expressed hope that contract discussions will be initiated in the coming weeks. Gunn emphasized the importance of clarity for a professional player in planning for the future.
“I hope more than anything just for a bit of clarity really – I’ve got a family and I need to look to the future,” Gunn said. “For a professional player, the main thing is to have that clarity and know where you’re going to be.”
Despite the uncertainty, Gunn remains open to staying at Carrow Road, where he has made a significant impact since his arrival. The 29-year-old, son of Norwich goalkeeping legend Bryan Gunn, reflected on his journey with the club and expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has had.
“If the opportunity comes and they come speak to me and say that I’m wanted then definitely it’s something I would like to hear and definitely have a conversation about,” Gunn said. “It’s where I was born, it’s where I grew up and obviously it’s the club I support.”
Having previously played for Norwich on loan and returning in 2021 from Southampton, Gunn has established himself as a key figure in the team, making 166 appearances and keeping 44 clean sheets.
“I owe a lot to them in my career and a lot of people that have been here at the club have been massive parts of why I am here today,” Gunn added, highlighting his deep connection to the club and his desire to continue contributing to its success.
