Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly prevalent in our lives, with experts warning that it is seeping into every aspect of our existence, including our dreams. A recent survey sponsored by Amerisleep, a mattress company, revealed that one in five individuals are regularly dreaming about AI, with many of these dreams being anxiety-inducing nightmares.
The survey, which involved 1,000 participants in the United States, found that while the majority dream about AI less than once a month, nearly one in five have at least one AI-related dream in that time frame, and 16 percent have more than one. Surprisingly, almost 10 percent reported having AI dreams on a weekly basis.
Interestingly, the prevalence of AI dreams varied among different demographics, with nearly a quarter of Gen Z respondents admitting to dreaming about AI, with some even experiencing nightmares about losing their jobs to the technology. Concerns about AI taking over the world and interacting with AI as if it were human were common themes in these dreams.
In a curious coincidence, actor Nicholas Cage, known for his role in “Dream Scenario,” also recently expressed his concerns about AI nightmares. During his acceptance speech at the Saturn Awards, Cage emphasized the importance of not letting robots dictate our dreams and creativity, as he believes it undermines the essence of human expression.
Cage’s warning about the dangers of AI influencing our art and integrity rings true in light of the survey findings about AI dreaming. As AI continues to infiltrate various aspects of our lives, it is crucial to remain vigilant and ensure that our creativity and authenticity are not compromised by technological advancements.
